My 2024 Year in Review
Reflections on a transformative year — and a look ahead to what’s next.
January 5th, 2024, marks not just my birthday but also a moment to reflect on the past year. Every year, I write about health, wealth, and relationships — three pillars that define my personal and professional life. This year has been one of growth, healing, and impact, and I’m proud to celebrate our achievements and energized to lead the way into an impactful and transformative 2025.
Health: “Make Ludo Healthy Again”
The year of making Ludo healthy again. This year, I made a massive leap forward in my physical and mental well-being. After 2 years of living with six metal plates in my back following a ski accident, I finally decided to have them removed. It wasn’t easy — 42 stitches later, I emerged with a renewed sense of freedom and a lighter body.
This decision was just the beginning. I’ve been rebuilding my strength with the help of my gym boy buddy, Alex. We hit the gym five days a week, prioritizing upper body strength, while I’m also back to running with renewed sensations. I’ve also re-committed to a non-alcohol, no-sugar (ie: no-refined-white-sugar) lifestyle, and the results have been transformative.
Even with 14 airplane trips this year — yes, 14! — I prioritized one critical habit: 8 hours of sleep every night. No matter where I was in the world, rest remained non-negotiable. Today, I can confidently say I’m in the best shape of my life.
Wealth: The Journey and the People
“It’s not about the destination. It’s not even about the journey. It’s about the people you keep company along the way.”
This quote perfectly captures what wealth has meant to me in 2024. The highlight of the year was the release of my book, Atomic Scaling, on March 16th at GDC in San Francisco. Seeing years of effort come to life was surreal, but what made it truly special was the support of friends and mentors.
I was honored to share the stage at GDC with my good friend and former Cmune employee, Neel, who now works at Google. After the launch and book signing — organized by my friend James, co-founder at Yodo1 — we celebrated as Atomic Scaling became an Amazon bestseller. Today, the book boasts a 4.5-star rating and over 60 endorsements from unicorn founders of Supercell, Rovio and Twitch, former CEOs of Xiaomi, Nokia, Microsoft and many other industry leaders.
Being a published author opened doors to incredible opportunities this year:
- I traveled to 14 cities, delivering keynotes at events around the globe.
- Highlights included speaking at an AI conference in Shenzhen, entrepreneurship in Beijing, and Slush and Business Finland in Helsinki.
- Seeing my face on a banner at Istanbul Airport was a surreal moment!
I also engaged deeply with the startup community, appearing on multiple podcasts — including conversations with Joseph Kim and Sophie Vo — and consistently sharing content. I published:
- 150 LinkedIn posts
- 50+ newsletters
- grew my audience to 10,000 followers in just seven months.
The goal for 2025? Scale even further: 20,000 followers, then 30,000, and eventually crossing 100,000. We’ll also be expanding to YouTube, where I’ll share more content to inspire and educate entrepreneurs.
Relationships: Giving Back and Scaling Impact
This year, I leaned into an idea that deeply resonates with me: Your mess is your message. As an entrepreneur and unicorn investor, I know how isolating the journey can be, and I’ve made it a mission to help others navigate it.
Looking back, I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors at key moments in my life:
- Bertrand Duchéneaut, who guided me before I started my first company in my early 20s.
- Bob Aubrey, who supported me as I built my second company in China in my early 30s.
- Christine Comaford, who helped me through the publishing process in my early 40s.
Their guidance and coaching have been game-changing — I wouldn’t have gotten halfway to where I am without them. And this year, I’ve made it a priority to give back. We transformed Atomic Scaling into actionable tools:
- A webinar to share key insights.
- A masterclass for deeper learning.
- An accelerator, where we work closely with startups and scale ups as sparring partners.
This year alone, just to give a few examples, we’ve worked with companies across industries:
- An AI startup in Paris.
- Web3 companies in the U.S. and Singapore.
- A retail business in Southeast Asia.
- An automotive firm in Germany.
- Applied AI ventures in Portugal, Vancouver, and beyond.
My focus for 2025 is wealth creation and distribution, redefining what wealth truly means: “Investors earn, Cause profit, Token holders decide”. It’s about building a system that combines financial rewards, social impact, and decentralized governance. More on that soon :)
Family: My Foundation
Of course, none of this would be possible without the unwavering support of my family. My wife and two daughters have been my anchors through every challenge and success. Their unconditional love keeps me grounded and motivated.
The prologue of Atomic Scaling begins with an image of our family — a tribute to their role in my journey. Every milestone I’ve achieved this year is, in no small part, because of them.
Looking Ahead to 2025
As I step into the new year, I’m filled with gratitude for what 2024 brought and excitement for what lies ahead. Health remains my top priority, wealth continues to grow and be shared, and relationships remain central to everything I do.
In 2025, I’ll focus on:
- Growing Atomic Scaling content ecosystem: more podcasts, interviews, keynotes, and YouTube content.
- Supporting more entrepreneurs through our webinar, masterclass, and accelerator.
- Expanding into new investments, particularly in AI, algorithmic trading, and crypto.
- Exploring the potential of a new token and staying bullish on BTC and the U.S. market.
Here’s to scaling our impact, building stronger communities, and continuing to grow together.
